Wedding Chaperone

Assistance with your dog's needs and presence during your wedding, ensuring the dog is comfortable, safe, and well-behaved. Below are some activities I can assist with:

  • Pre-Wedding

Meeting with you and your dog(s) to get acquainted and discuss your dog's role at the wedding.

  • Transportation

Ensuring your dog gets to and from the venue safely and comfortably.

  • Care:

Providing food, water, and a comfortable space for your dog during the wedding.

  • Assistance during the Ceremony

Helping your dog behave appropriately during the ceremony, potentially assisting with tasks like walking down the aisle or standing next to the alter.

  • Photo Assistance

Getting your dog to sit for photos and ensuring they are on-task during photo sessions.

  • Post-Ceremony

Providing continued care and attention to your dog, ensuring they remain comfortable and entertained throughout the reception.

  • Communication

Keeping you updated on your dog's well-being and progress throughout the day.

Why hire a dog chaperone?

  • Peace of Mind: Knowing that your dog is well cared for and safe while you enjoy your wedding.

  • Stress Reduction: Eliminating the worry about managing your dog's needs on the big day.

  • Smooth Inclusion: Ensuring that your dog is included in the wedding celebrations in a way that is both enjoyable for them and for you.

  • Professionalism: Having a trained professional handle your dog's needs can ensure a smooth and stress-free experience for everyone.

Hi, I’m Alex

Personal History

I am a professionally trained dog caretaker, with experience in both private and online marketplace company settings. I grew up taking care of two large dogs, and I often walk, sit, and dote on my parents’ two small mutts. I am a huge animal lover (vegetarian for >18 years!) and believe that their behavior is simply a reflection of how we treat them. With this philosophy in mind I seek to treat animals with the kindness and respect they deserve.

The Science of Dog Care

I hold a M.A. in Experimental Psychology (Developmental Cognitive neuroscience), and Clinical Psychology. I am passionate about science, cognition, and the mind. I have applied these skills to my work with dogs, and am always up-to-date on the latest research on animal cognition.

The more I learn, the more I've come to understand dogs as even more highly intelligent, socially/emotionally sensitive, and clued-in than we previously believed. Not only can I apply this research to my practical methods for working with dogs, but it also has increased my compassion for them and I am much more "teamwork oriented" than a subscriber to the outdated "alpha" model of training. I pledge to always work with dogs from the stance of science and compassion!

My Happy Clients

Reviews

Alex took incredible care of Taz! We met a few weeks ago before doing our first doggy daycare and she was incredibly lovely, thoughtful, and asked great questions about Taz's care.

She was so easy to coordinate with and super accomadating. She took excellent care of Taz who had a small injury on her foot, even putting a bootie on her to prep for outside walks. Taz came home happy and seemed like she had a great day! Thank you Alex!

“Alex was incredible! She is so knowledgeable about dogs and we felt very confident leaving Otis in her hands. We could tell he absolutely loved her and she was great at sending us daily updates and photos. 10/10 would book her again. Thanks Alex!”
